What is PTSD?

Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) is a mental health condition triggered by experiencing or witnessing a terrifying or deeply distressing event. While often associated with combat, it can affect anyone—from a survivor of a car accident or natural disaster to someone navigating a sudden personal loss or medical crisis. Essentially, PTSD is the brain's "alarm system" getting stuck in the "on" position. Instead of the stress response fading once the danger has passed, the mind remains in a constant state of high alert, making it feel as though the trauma is still happening in the present moment.

Frequently Asked Questions

Does online therapy actually work for PTSD and Trauma?

Yes. Research consistently shows that Telehealth is as effective as in-person therapy for treating PTSD. For many of my clients, being in their own familiar environment actually helps them lower their defenses and process emotions more effectively.

Do you accept insurance for trauma therapy?

I am contracted with major insurance providers—including Aetna, Anthem Blue Cross California, Blue Shield of California, Carelon Behavioral Health, Cigna (including EAP), Kaiser Permanente (including NorCal), Oxford (Optum), Quest Behavioral Health, and United Healthcare (Medicare Advantage & Optum)—to make care accessible. If you have another insurance plan, please contact me to check eligibility.

What is the "Good Faith Estimate"?

Under the No Surprises Act, you have the right to receive a "Good Faith Estimate" explaining how much your medical care will cost. I believe in full transparency—there are no hidden fees at Well Mind California. We will discuss all costs clearly before our first session.
